Well, it’s taken its own sweet time, but Microsoft has finally managed to jump through all the necessary hoops and has got the BBC iPlayer up and running on its Xbox 360 console.
And actually, it might just be the best iPlayer iteration yet. For rather cleverly it’s designed to work with the console’s Kinect accessory, so that you can navigate – surprisingly effectively – through the iPlayer listings using Kinect’s voice and gesture functionality.
Also supported by the Xbox’s iPlayer ‘app’ are HD viewing and the ability to save programme favourites and previous search results.
The new iPlayer app is available now free of charge to all Xbox Live Gold members.
